Principal Consultant: Human Factors/Usability Grant Young has been involved in the field of usability for over 10 years. Before forming Young & Young, Grant was a Senior Usability Engineer at Informix Software where he focused on the usability of database exploration and administration software. Prior to Informix, he was a research scientist at NASA Ames Research Center where he studied Human Factors issues both in the private and commercial cockpit and with Air Traffic Control. Grant received his Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology at New Mexico State University with dissertation research on preventing human error in automated cockpits. In addition, Grant’s graduate work focused on both the interface design and usability testing components of Human Computer Interaction. Heidi Young formed Young & Young after four years at the Center for Economic Development and Research (CEDRA) at New Mexico State University; a US Department of Commerce funded University Center. As Director of CEDRA, Heidi supervised and conducted technology transfer projects, strategic planning initiatives, and economic development related research. Most recently, Heidi has worked as a consultant for Bay Area consulting firms engaged in economic indicator studies.
